Tears of Grief; Tears of Joy
Tuesday, November 19, 2024
Started early on our very full day, after a great Israeli breakfast, of course.
We drove to Ashkelon and visited a marvelous school for kids with ASD (autism).
I am honored to have my name on the door of one of the computer classrooms.
Come inside with me and meet some wonderful kids and the woman who developed this amazing learning center. (She’s wearing a brown skirt and a white top.)
Each one receives an individual program of learning: challenging to go higher. Some gifted in math, etc., will actually work with the IDF.
Rodin, an especially gifted student, really took up with me. He gave us a welcome speech in English.
The students baked two desserts for us. And the girl in white presented us with beautifully crocheted gifts she makes.
Yossi LandauโZ A K A
Yossi Landau is Southern Commander of ZAKA, a post-disaster response team. After the October 7th massacre, they were some of the first on the scene to act as a search and rescue team for the survivors, and to respectfully tend to the bodies of those who perished.
As practicing Jews, they see that all is carried out according the Jewish halacha.
Yossi sat across from me in our van and spoke as we rode from place to place of the horrors of that fateful day.
First stop: a graveyard of thousands of cars, most burned. Many once had people inside, murdered by the terrorists. Yossi had personally witnessed what happened in many of the cars.
And he told us the stories. He pointed to his eyes and hands while saying, “These eyes have seen and these hands handled 872 bodies, victims of October 7.”
I cannot bear to tell you the terror and suffering he shared with us. Israel has rehab and counseling for ZAKA workers. They do the biblically required cleansing of the land. But the price they pay is steep.
In this red car, they found a husband and wife, both dead.
As they were working with them, they heard a child’s muted whimper. They found a three-and-a-half-year-old girl hiding under a blanket. She’d been there four hours. When they uncovered her, she asked, “Are you good people?” When they answered, “Yes,” she said, “Give me a sign.” Yossi quoted the Shemah, Deuteronomy 6:4.
Deuteronomy 6:4โ5 ESV
Hear [Shemah], O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one.
You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.
With that, she came to them. She lives with her grandparents, but has remained close to Yossi’s family. She celebrated her fourth birthday with the Landau family.
Kibbutz Nir Oz
We visited this kibbutz, so hard-hit by the massacre, for the second time. We took a long walk through, hearing tragic story after tragic story. Out of 270 homes in the kibbutz, 264 were destroyed. Out of the 400 people who lived in the kibbutz, eighty were kidnapped and thirty murdered.
Nova Music Festival Massacre
This “people’s memorial” was started on-site when someone put up a vertical pole and marker for a loved one who was a terror victim here. One after another, people began to do likewise. Its message is “simply profound.” Many of the cars in the car graveyard are from this festival.
After a long day, we are back in Tel Aviv to pack. Headed to Migdal Arbel Prayer and Study Center tomorrow.
Shalom and Blessings,
P.S. I am attaching a memory of last night, when I was caught up in the stream of those getting off the plane to make aliyah from France.

Iโm in tears of joy and thanks for this report . Hashem has certainly blessed you ,Miss Billye, as result of your calling. I was watching Israelโs return from France and realized we are watching the fulfillment of scripture prophecy.
I know about the cleansing the land and how blessed those are who serve. It reminds me of Yom Kippur. Also the women at the tumb were set out to prepare the body for a Jewish burial. Something to reflect on.
Imagine our welcome home to Heaven.
Thank you Dr. Billye for such beautiful videos of the people at the airport. I was in tears ๐ข it’s so beautiful. I’ve never been to Israel. I’ve always wanted to go but I’ve never been able to afford it. But what I see in your videos is awesome. Please be safe, miss you very much. I’ve been on the prayer calls from the beginning and at the end of the noon prayer and your signing off I’m crying because I don’t want you to be go. Your like my family. ๐๐ฎ๐ฑ๐๐ฎ๐ฑ๐บ๐ฒ
Thank you once again for all that you do for Israel and showing them the love that we have for them. It makes me want to support your mission even more. God bless you and Israel!
Thank you, Billye, for sharing all of this…is my only way to see the inside of Israel life. What a blessing!
Of course, look forward to Arbel tomorrow.
Thank you for the updates, Sis Billye. I know you hurt AND rejoice with Israel. When Jesus returns, what a joy that will be. All tears will be wiped from all eyes!
So true.
Praying for you all from Christchurch New Zealand may God Bless u all and protect you as you minister the love of Jesus to Gods beloved people and all you meet.
Thank you for your faithfulness, Billye. Bless you. Nerida
Dr. Billlye, I have had the opportunity to spend 1 year, as requested by God, as a volunteer in Israel. I have one question that I have never gotten a good answer for. When a Jew dies will they have the opportunity to go to heaven; eventhough they don’t acknowledge Jeshua? I can’t believe that God would deny them at that moment when they represent His chosen people! If you have an answer I would love to hear it from you. I pray it’s a good one!! Sorry I have always missed you at Migdal and Arbel, I was there many times with other volunteers. I’ll await your answer. In Christ, Bonita Harland

Dr. Billye, thank you so much for your continued blogs from Israel. I am comforted that you started with joy and ended in joy. However, the sorrow of it all lingers long and deep and honestly I do a lot of weeping. The most joy comes through the prayer calls on Moed Wednesdays, as Yeshua speaks such overwhelming statements to us all, which are truly very, very humbling. Praying always for your team and the people of Israel and all leaders. I pray you having a glorious Thanksgiving and birthday in Israel!
