Very Early Shabbat Morning

Very Early Shabbat Morning

May 11, 2024

3:50 AM I was wide awake. That’s how it goes—at first.

Glad to see my kumkum (קוּמְקוּם). Every hotel room in the Land has one.

A super-fast-heating electric kettle. Very hot for tea or coffee.

Let’s let that be our first Hebrew word to learn.

(I just hit upon the idea to share a little of the language of the Land—and of the Book.)

The Hebrew word kum (קוּם) means “arise.”

Jesus used it to speak to Jairus’ daughter.

I’m glad they used His exact words.

Mark 5:41 ESV
Taking her by the hand he said to her, “Talitha cumi,” which means, “Little girl, I say to you, arise.”

The translators give you the meaning, kind of, but I like the literal translation better.

Talitha means “little lamb.” That could have been her name, or He could have addressed her with this term of endearment.

Jesus spoke Aramaic and Hebrew. In fact, they are so alike. They use the same Aleph Bet (alphabet).

Kum has a deep meaning. Whenever the LORD addressed someone in the Old Testament, almost every time, He would begin with “Kum.” It has the meaning that one had to arise spiritually to do the assignment the Lord was giving.

It is a command word. Kum is masculine, and a command word to a male.  Kumi is feminine.

Therefore, Talitha kumi.

Oh, back to the kettle. It is called a kumkum because the bubbles arise when it boils.

to Billy, thanks for the word study, and I will call our water heater kum ku. from now on! I did not a place to comment to you….. Joy Bjork from Sweden by the way Sweden gave the highest peoples vote to Eden at the Eurovision competition last Saturday in Malmo, Sweden! she came in fifth, in spite of 3 days demonstrations outside the arena. Eden stayed cool and calm and her performance was excellent, standing out from most because of modesty in dress and movements, she was Regal!

Good for Sweden. That’s really big here in the Land.

I thought you’d like to know, the Lord placed me in Sweden 28 years ago. I’ve been praying for all Scandinavian countries that they become sheep nations and not goats! He also gave me a Swedish husband so I am not alone anymore, after 14 years on my own after my first marriage of 14 years. He blessed me with a Christian man who also loves Israel…..be blessed! sending you a gift.

Good morning, Sister Billye! THANK you for this lesson (blogg).! I really enjoy learning some Hebrew AND the application you gave. It spoke to me that Jesus addressed the girl “little lamb” which showed his endearment for her because when I “run to” Jesus in the mornings, I see myself as his “little lamb”. 😃 And I soak in his love.
Looking forward to your next lesson!! ❤️

Thank you so very much for your never ending love and faithfulness in the lord and for those years in the early 80’s where I could pick up my phone from Fargo, ND Moorhead, MN and call you and for the wisdom you would share with me and for the first time we met in Bismarck, ND at the afternoon meeting you held where you called me out and took me to the book table and gave me The Authority of the Believer and then told me to come up to you after night service because God had a Word for me and you wanted to pray back in your motel room about it further before giving it to me. That night those words etc changed my life plus the meetings at Women of the Word when you called me up from entire crowd handed me the mic and then had me lay hands on everyone etc and when Brother Halverson called us forward to impart the Annointing of Intercession and the Words he spoke over me “if you don’t use it, you will lose it!” Throughout the years my life has been rooted in prayer. You may not remember me but that’s okay. When I was in need or a church to cover me you said A Glorious Church Fellowship would always cover me. i just want you to know that church is my online church now. I am a WWP and f have never stopped praying for you and for family!

Thank you for all you do! This may be something most would know already, but would that be pronounced like “koom?” Or would it sound more like “come” instead? Also, Talitha…is that tah-lee-tha (which is how I’ve been reading it when reading the Word) or is the pronunciation different than I am imagining? Thanks again and may the Lord continue to bless you and protect you and your family!

Thank you for another word to add to my limited Hebrew vocabulary and to recall the words in Scripture that Jesus used to raise up the young girl. May God protect and use you and Shelli for His Glory. Praying also for your safe return. Blessings!!
