Family Time

Billye Brim Blog

July 5, 2024

It’s Friday, and most of my out-of-state family left this morning. I’d rented a large (sleeps 14) vacation rental close by for nearly a week. With that place and my house and the nearby family in their own homes, we could all be together. It was a five-star Fourth of July. Everything turned out just right. Fireworks. Fun. Fellowship. Even the food, much of which was prepared by my grandchildren.

The Mimi rule! – Upon arrival, you have to greet me with a kiss.

Many things I’ve learned over the years were life-lessons shared by Brother Kenneth E. Hagin. How he walked in love with his wife. Taught his children. Dealt with church problems. Etc. I never thought he was bragging. I just appreciated the wisdom.

Some of the great grandkids getting ready to enjoy fireworks at Prayer Mountain.

The great grandkids enjoying fireworks at Prayer Mountain.

So with that as my motive, I am writing this blog. Sharing some thoughts I’ve been thinking today in the quiet after they’ve gone home. Thoughts about being in ministry and keeping one’s family. Not losing them by their thinking that ministry is more important than they are.

Left: A fun evening boat ride with Penny, Cody and Kelsie’s daughter. Right: Cody driving the boat and letting all the kids take turns!

I learned to compartmentalize. I learned to separate times that were just for them. When my four were growing up. Times for their activities. Ball games. Music. Etc.

Grandkids enjoying some lake time.

I always so appreciated my role as wife and mother. (And now as grandmother. And great-grandmother.) Kent thought I was the best preacher he ever heard. He told Elizabeth Pruitt, a minister friend, “Don’t you think Billye is the best preacher you ever heard? I think Brother Hagin gets a lot of his ideas from her.” She, being a woman preacher, didn’t think so.

Cody and his family went out to enjoy Silver Dollar City for the day!

I told that to Brother Hagin and he laughed. He said, “That’s just what Kent ought to think.”

Left: Me and my great granddaughter, Eiley! Right: Here I am reading to the family on the history of Independence Day.

Left: Jared made an excellent meal for the family! Right: Grandkids enjoying lunch (from the same table my children grew up having meals on).

But Brother Hagin also told me, when I was leaving to go out into full-time ministry, that he knew I wouldn’t make the mistake some women ministers were making at the time. The women’s lib movement of the day had bled over into the church. Brother Hagin could see that I knew how to put being a wife and mother above being a minister.

The guys discussing fantasy football. A very serious conversation.

My granddaughter Kayelin made this clever bunny trap!

For instance, when we went to church on Sunday morning, Kent listened to what I taught as my best supporter. But when we walked into the kitchen after church, he wanted to eat. I usually got up early to put a roast on or a chicken dish in the oven. There were no restaurants in our small town. Going out to eat wasn’t an option. (I might have used it if there had been.)

Left: Rebekah and Brayden (Branden and Destanie’s newest addition) enjoying some rest while the others adventured on the boat.
Right: Saint and Piper resting after a long day at the lake.

Left: So much fun staying in one house together for all the grandchildren to play! Right: Chip showing Nathan a fun game on his phone.

Fourth of July has always been an important time for a just-our-family get-together. Yes, as we grow in number not every one of my dearly beloveds can make it. And we miss each one who cannot. And yes, in the last year I’ve spent six weeks in Australia and two six-week trips to Israel. But for these compartmentalized family times, I just enjoy being a mother and grandmother. Making a big breakfast. Listening to them laugh and play is one of life’s greatest pleasures. I’m including some pictures here just to share some of our joy.

I never forget my First Love (Revelation 2:4). But that bodes well as an example to my next love. Family.

I love you Miss Billye for making the regular life the priority and best life lived! Exactly how God ordained it. I grew up a Catholic and lived a regular life with God involved in all of our lives, we churched, schooled, played every code of sport, did picinics, debutes, fetes, balls together as a fun loving body of Christ, to come into a charismatic world of ministry of excellence that left out the most important part of Gods plan “a regular life” of fun, laughter and the village (family) helping each other in lives endeavours. I was blessed to have had this regular life and have had to fight hard against the church cartel to maintain the blessed life, being told, ” you missed out” hahaha, forgive them, for they know not what they do. I applaud you mumma Billye for shining a light on the way we should go, Family, love, fun and laughter as the Jews do so well. Thanks for sharing your photos and the precious private moments of your regular life. You never cease to bless my life. Amen

Hearing you talk preemptively about this visit in the prayer calls, I felt my heart longing to experience that kind of family bond and love. As I cast the care of life’s cares and perceived lacks on Jesus, He was able to open my eyes to the miraculous, and I do mean miraculous things that He is doing in my life and family.
I thank my precious Savior for you, Ms. Billye. Getting connected to this ministry, how you love and live to the fullest for Abba. For your family. It is eternally inspiring, and I can’t wait to hear more one day in eternity.
    Bless you, Brim family.
And thank you, my precious Savior and Lord Jesus for loving me into this company. I trust in You 💛

Billye we have the opposite… in fact polarisation .. after we were born again. Add to that a few other thoughts so much so that we haven’t seen our eldest daughter family including grandchildren and great grandchildren for about thirty years . No 2 fell away sadly from us in his strife after we tried our best and he’s been out of our lives for a long time also. No 3 backed off as well and we’ve not see her or her daughters for many years. No 4 is in touch regularly by text or phone and has cancer which has spread through his body. We pray everyday for him to be saved and healed. No 5 is a daughter who’s in touch with her mother but dropped away from me after my wife’s 80 th when we welcomed a former daughter in law home . They are all prayed for and believe on their return to Jesus and us . Am I wee bit jealous of you… yep. But I’m wrapt for you all. Enjoy the blessings .
    Peter.( Kefa).

Thank you Billye. I always admired you for who you have become. You are not only a Prophet and and Friend to me/us but also to The Lord Jesus. I often think of your consistency and how you blend your ministry/friendships/family/nations so well. I don’t think there is another like you Billye. I had a brief chat with you during the JPB in Israel. You did really smile well in the photo although it was done without much notice. I also took note that you cared about Shelli’s breakfast going cold. You did all this at the same time and it is such a gift. Your care and love for the Body of Christ touched me. I wish I had one more person like you in Sydney Australia. You have grounded your family so well and you are to be celebrated every day. I pray for you as often as I think of you.
    Much love and blessings

Ms. Billye, I’m sorry to use the comments for this but I was hoping for some clarity.
On the June 12th morning Moed call, the scripture was translated Pslam 138:7-10. You read verses 7&8 but did not correct that there were not any verse 9-10.
Just curious about that before I translate it into my journal.

Seems sometimes there can hardly be anything as beautiful as family & family times together! Just think how we “get” to be part of our heavenly Father’s family too…now and forever!!! Thank you for sharing family times with us. Thank you for ALL you share with.

Billye, have you ever listened to the song “Well Done” by The Afters? It wakes me up each morning as my alarm song. 🎶 It speaks of the Lord saying “well done” to us at our meeting Him. Reminds me of brother Jerry. On iTunes you can listen to a little snippet of it. I know you’ll like it. Shalom my sister & always “thank you”!!

  73. Deborah Switzer on July 11, 2024 at 9:51 am

Family before ministry? What about Jesus’ words written in Matthew 10:37-38? Billy Graham seems to have put ministry first and he was greatly rewarded as was his wife . Ruth Graham was recognized as a great woman of God in her own right. Please, Sister Billye, I am NOT judging you. God is the Judge of us all. I am looking for clarification. In my own life my son thinks I deserted him for Jesus. His anti-Christ wife I think has poisoned his mind and caused other serious problems. But I will not turn back. I love Jesus and want to please Him. Please pray for me and my family to be what He wants us to be. Jesus loves you and so do I. — WWP/ BBM since 2014 partner Deborah Switzer Pensacola, FL

Everyone has to follow the Voice of God within their own hearts
I followed what I was led to do. And it turned out well.
My walk carried me far away from family for long periods of time, after the last one graduated from High School.
And for not so far away ministry before.
Your faith will work for your family now. Be sure to use your authority.
I’ve had to. And it worked.

Dr. Billye, thank you for taking the time to share with us memories made with you and your family. I so enjoyed seeing all of the pictures capturing moments to be shared for years to come. I also enjoyed seeing and hearing you and your family sing the Patriotic Song, God Bless America. May God continue to bless America and bountifully bless you.
I am so grateful to be a part of your family through partnership!
    Sincerely, Effie (7-11-24)

Since, I never married I don’t have any children or grandkids. But we what we do share is a love for the same holidays. From the age of 5 or 6 I’ve always loved the 4th of July and Christmas. That was always family time for us growing up. And from what I could see from the videos and pictures you are a blessed woman of God. Your table is full 🌹
